I created this a book for Connor's preschool on my business site...Heritage Makers. Once it was completed online, I published it and it was sent to me in a library-bounded, hard-cover book. Connor's last day was today. He has a little graduation tomorrow for the class. You can find the preview of this book at the bottom of the blog. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the layout just right. :) Here's the direct link if you want to go that route: http://www.heritagemakers.com/?event=projectBrowse&projectId=f2591c36-6483-4480-b58f-85f38f5ed10d&productId=3&projectSponsor=255306

A couple of things the kids like to do...
Crazy!

Thankfully, both of the kids were asleep, so I was saute'ing some veggies for my
lunch. I had a small skillet and put a glass skillet top over it. I've
done this many times. Well, I was over hear checking email, etc. and
heard something bust! The glass lid shattered. So, why would companies
make skillet lids that are going to shatter if they get hot? Hmmmm.
So, I'm not sure I'll use anymore of my glass lids again...I'll just
have to double use my metal ones. Hmmm...is this foreshadowing the
rest of my day? :)
Here's the end product!

Double Anniversary
OH, yeah. Yesterday marked 6 years that Trey and I have been married and 1 year that we've been in Maryland. Time has flown with lots happening in the middle!
Celebration!!
This is such an accomplishment that I can't believe I haven't posted it yet. Connor has been going to his bed and sleeping in it all night! Well, he is now getting up at 5 am with the sun, but that's better than what it has been. The first night he actually went to his bed and then fell asleep. He came in our room several times and Trey would take him back to his room. Last night he fell asleep on the couch and I took him to his room, but he did stay in his room until after 5! There is hope!! We've got a little positive reinforcement (bribery) going on as well. :)
Monkey see, Monkey do
Connor is figuring out that his sister will copy almost anything he does. Their favorite version of copycat seems to be a squealing match. Yesterday, Alyssa was in her bed and had been stirring from her naptime. Connor heard her and screamed. Alyssa screamed back. Connor squealed again. Alyssa did again. There you have it...a screaming match between brother and sister on two different floors of the house.
Mommy's sick???
What does the phrase "Mommy's sick" really mean?? For my children I think it means that Mommy's not going to move as fast as she usually does and she's coughing more and sneezing and talking funny, but she can still do and get what I need. I'm thinking for hubby it's about the same meaning. :) Trey did let me rest bc he was on vacation this week, but it was still hard. I could rest while Alyssa was asleep...Connor kept himself occupied for the most part unless he wanted something and his daddy wasn't fast enough. But, when Alyssa was away she DID NOT want her mommy lying in bed. She would come into the bedroom, get on the bed, and put her little hands under my arms and body and try to pull me up. And, then she would squeal and fuss if I didn't move. So, needless to say, I had to get up. So much for resting! I guess that goes to show that she's used to me being on the move! No sitting down allowed on the mommy job!!
Backtracking
This weekend I had the worst sinus infection/allergy attack that I've had in a long time. I've missed posting several things. So, when they come to me, I will probably post them in randomness. I also need to post some more pics,I know! Hopefully, I'll get better at this.

Birth order...
I'm not going to go into details, but we have started the long process of adopting an older child. We've been wanting to do this for a long time. We feel that this is the right time to at least begin. So, we chose the adoption organization and put in our application. We passed the review committee. So, we went and met with the director of the Waiting Child Program today. The reason I titled this post birth order is that this is one thing we discussed that I hadn't thought about. There have been studies that mention that there are concerns of what effect disrupting birth order by adopting can have on the birth children. Hmmm...something to ponder. If we adopt an older child, that means Connor's place as first born has been disrupted...how can we counter-act that or take care that it will not be detrimental. One suggestion was to really think about the age of the new child...think about the upper end of our limit...as far as we feel comfortable from Connor's age. Maybe that's another reason that Jade...a child we have our eyes on...caught Trey's heart before I even had a chance to look at any profiles online. Of course, we are a LONG ways from actually really, seriously looking at profiles, but our prayer is that God will show us in His time who our new child is or will be and it will be the perfect timing. We never seem to raelly do things by the book! :)
Of course he'll eat this!
Connor has strange habits when it comes to eating. He loves fruit and used to be my veggie eater. He'll eat spinach, and I've coaxed him into touch broccoli again. His favorite type of food is frozen foods...yep, you read it correctly...FROZEN foods. Of course, I make sure anything he eats is precooked. He likes taquitos, TGIF potato skins, french fries, fish sticks...you get my point! He loves pasta...cooked or raw. Oh, yeah, don't forget bread...he loves bread...toasted, frozen, fresh. So, I've been having a hard time getting him to eat regular meals. Since he likes pasta, I decided to cook pasta with a different kind of sauce tonight. I had found a jar of Vodka sauce that sounded interesting. I had something like it at a restaurant before. I didn't know what the kids would think about it, so I put the sauce with ground turkey on the side and then the noodles separate. The next thing I know, Connor tried the sauce and asked me to put sauce on his noodles...AMAZING! He had two helpings. Of course, let it be Connor who would like noodles with Vodka sauce...of course, any alcohol was completely cooked out of it.
How old is she??
So I haven't posted anything else or even pics of 6 Flags...story of my life. I'm going to do...and it never gets done. BUT, I do have a cute story to tell.
I have started putting size 5 baby dry diapers on Alyssa at night because she was soaking through her regular size 4 cruisers. Mind you, we've only been doing this about a week. Tonight I was putting on her diaper for bed, but it happened to be the size 4 cruiser and not the size 5 baby dry...they don't look that different...at least I didn't think so. However, Alyssa wouldn't let me put it on...she took it off as I was putting it on. She pointed to upstairs which is where her other diapers are kept. Yes, she went up stairs and got a size 5 baby dry diaper from her closet, threw it down through the rail...that's how she takes stuff down, and then brought me the correct diaper. Of course, she let me put that one on. How in the world did she gather that it was time to put that particular type of diaper on???? She is one smart cooking...laid-back compared to her brother, but very type A. :) I think I am going to have my hands full...or do I already!?

6 Flags
I may post more tomorrow, and I have a couple of cute pics. But, I had to tell you quickly about how Alyssa and Connor both were so cute on our Six Flags , MD trip today. We went with a homeschooler group from our church...my husband is Minister to Children...and it wasn't crowded at all...it was opened for homeschool groups only. Anyway, Alyssa could only ride a few rides, and the few she could ride, Connor had to ride with her. So, Connor and Alyssa went on this balloon ride that went up and down in the air. As they went up and down, they both would throw up their hands and scream like they were on a roller coaster. No, I didn't get a video bc my camera was with the stroller in a different area. They were so cute! We are all soooo tired now. I will try to write more and post pics tomorrow.

"I made a joke"
We were driving home today from a gathering with friends...it had been a long day of different things going on. We were stopped at a red light near a farm equipment store that we see all of the time. Connor saw an edger in the window...it took the shape of a motorcycle...at least in the eyes of a 3.5 year old. Once we figured out what he was talking about, we let him know that it wasn't a motorcycle. We told him it was an edger. Of course, his next comment/question was: What's an edger? I told him that it is a machine that goes along the edges of the grass to make it look nice. He then said something like..."and that's why it doesn't have a tail." He then said, "Ha, ha, I made a joke. Get it? ha, ha. I made a joke!" My husband and I looked at each other. We had no idea what he meant, but we laughed. He felt so good...he made a joke!
My first attempt at blogging
Okay, I love to write, and I have been saying for 4 years now that I'm going to write down all of the funny things my kids say and do. Well my son will be 4 in July and my daughter will be 2 in August...and, this is my first blog. I have gone back and forth on whether to write on the computer or on actual paper, but the computer won as you can see! So, welcome to the thoughts of my ever-so-scattered mind. I hope you enjoy reading my thoughts, the crazy things going on in our lives, and the funny things my kids say and do.
